There is no doubt we were spoiled with views on our sailing trip through the British Virgin Islands. The aqua water, scenic palm trees and magnificent ships would have been enough to entertain us all week, but we eventually got off the boat, into the sea and onto the beach to enjoy some local fun.
The first leg of the trip concluded in Virgin Gorda where we would stop by the Baths, land in Bitter End and begin the trek back west. As I previously mentioned, sailing ended up being one of the best parts about the trip, but don’t let that discount all the other great things being on a boat in the Caribbean allows. For instance, our clever captain pulled up to the Baths in the early morning hours so we could enjoy the sights before big cruise line crowds created a long wait and filled the beach. We could enjoy a swim into shore or simply a quick cool off any time the boat was anchored and there was an opportunity to snorkel at almost every stop. Plus, numerous water toys were strapped on including kayaks, paddle boards and water floats.
On the days we felt adventurous and took advantage of the Gypsy’s perks, I opted to forego the fashion swim suit and was happy I decided to pack a rash guard and a movement friendly swim top and bottom. Having the right gear when out in the elements is essential and the Billabong rash guard in particular saved me from an unwanted sunburn all while keeping me covered and comfortable in transition from sea to land and back again. I was also thankful I had my favorite Cassette Company sunglasses. This brand is geared towards an active lifestyle and these were perfect for wearing while swimming, paddle boarding and keeping my eyes safe.

Wondering what the Baths (pictured above & below) are all about? Rated one of the top things to do in the BVI’s, this natural wonder of piled up boulders create mazes in which you can walk, wade or swim through. The scenery is one-of-a-kind and the whole hike is stunningly picturesque.

Of course, happy hour was any hour you got back on the boat, so ice cold brews were always awaiting. While on vacation, right?
My final recap of this tropical vacation will be up next week, so stay tuned!
