Another neatly packaged delivery was on my door step when I arrived home earlier this week. What a good thing to happen on a Monday!
Since I’ve already given you my initial Stitch Fix review, I’ll leave today’s topic all to the clothes my stylist chose for me this time around. If you’ve received a fix before, or read any reviews on the personalized styling service, you probably already know each delivery can be customized to what you want. Have an event coming up? They’ll send you an appropriate outfit from head to toe. Need summer shoes? Sandals and tanks included.
When scheduling this fix, I wanted to add a note requesting specific items to see how the service fulfilled these needs. Plus, a recently purged closet full of outdated items required some assistance. My request: tops for work and play, transitional a plus!
How did they do?
Item #1: Alex Crystal & Leaf Collar Necklace – Bay to Baubles $38
I was pretty excited to see jewelry included with this fix! What outfit doesn’t need a good accessory? I liked the idea of this necklace – statement, neutral, a little bling – but at the $38 price point, I just didn’t love it enough.
Verdict: returning
Item #2: Siena Cropped Pant – Kut From The Kloth $58
My last fix had Kut From The Kloth jeans that I fell in love with. This red pair was a different story. I’m known for wearing black pants the majority of the week, and I’m not opposed to switching it up. But, this was a little too bright for my taste and the fit/quality didn’t quite match the jeans I kept.
Verdict: returning
Item #3: Benette Multi Strap Blouse – Papermoon $44
At first I was skeptical about the fit of this polka dot tank. But, after trying it on with some loose colorful shorts, it was an immediate win. The strap details are so fun and polka dots are the perfect way to add detail to an outfit. And, as Stitch Fix points out above, it’s a great layering piece!
Verdit: keeping!
Item #4: York Tile Print Roll-Tab Blouse – Skies are Blue $58
I was hoping for mostly tanks and short sleeves in this “tops” fix, so I was a little disappointed pulling this blouse out. Although I liked the colors, the fit wasn’t very flattering on me and I felt like it’s a piece you could find anywhere. If I’m paying for a styling service, I’d rather get more unique items.
Verdit: returning
Item #5: Careen V-Neck Dolman Knit Top – Market & Spruce $48
Cute? Absolutely. Basic? Oh yes. Love? Not sure. This 3/4 length sleeve top has the softest fabric, the perfect colors for summer and is such a good staple. But what was missing? I’m not sure I can even answer this, but once it was on, there wasn’t any “wow” factor. Bummer.
Verdict: returning
So, what did I learn in round #2? Notes to your stylist need to be specific, especially if you’re looking for something special! My mistake was not informing her that I wanted tanks/short sleeves and that I really enjoy unique pieces. The black and white tank was designed by Papermoon specifically for Stitch Fix which sold me on it even more.
The good news is, I plan to order another fix this summer and the service still gets a thumbs up in my book. I’m sure it will only get better from here!
